Ready to re-energise and de-stress?

Kundalini Yoga Retreat; Monday 15th June – Sunday 23rd June 2020


We are super excited to announce this retreat which is a joint venture between Olivia Flecha and Chloe Wasserman. Their aim is to offer you a chance to re-energise, de-stress and reconnect to yourself in beautiful and calm surroundings.

Chloe will be hosting and cooking for you, helping you to feel loved and nourished during your time here.

image3Olivia will be teaching yoga and meditation, encouraging you to feel at ease on your mat and deepening your practice. She is a qualified Kundalini yoga teacher who holds weekly classes and runs yearly retreats in Northern Spain. This is the first time she brings her teaching to France. You don’t need any experience in Kundalini Yoga. The retreat is suitable for all levels.

When: Starts on the evening of Monday 15th June – Ends on the night of Saturday 20th June. Travel home on Sunday 21st June (5 full days of yoga tues-sat, plus arrival and departure days)

Where: Os Figueiros’ rustic charm has a way of helping you to forget the outside world during your stay. Beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces to practice yoga, delicious vegan/vegetarian food prepared with produce from the gardens and local markets, plenty of time to relax, swim in the river, go on walks, read in a hammock and to just ‘be’ in nature.

Yoga: Each day you will have two 90 minute Kundalini Yoga sessions. One in the morning and one in the evening plus daily meditation workshops, silent walks and mantras.

57Known as the ‘yoga of awareness’ Kundalini Yoga uses specific sets of excercises called kriyas. These are a powerful mixture of physical excercises, postures, breathing techniques, mantra, relaxation and meditation. The kriyas are designed to balance the different body systems, break through energy blocks and raise the kundalini energy that lies dormant at the base of the spine. Classes aim to energize, de stress and awaken you to live a fuller life. Brought to the west by Yogi Bhajan, Kundalini Yoga is considered the most comprehensive of all yogas. It is said to be the fastest way to establish an aligned relationship between the body, mind and soul.

Food and accommodation: All meals and accommodation included. Freshly prepared healthy and delicious vegan/vegetarian food. Teas, coffee and fruit will be available throughout the day. And a glass of wine for those who wish in the evenings.

Both Olivia and Chloe believe that wellbeing experiences should be available to all, regardless of income so they have tried to keep the cost of the retreat as low as possible. Os Figueiros chefs on the move

Last weekend we decamped to Saint Antonin Noble Val where we spent Saturday and Sunday catering for all 50 members of a choir. It was hard work, but lots of fun and we even got a song as a thank you! We had a limited budget to work with, but used our creativity to come up with a great menu. Here’s what it looked like:

Dinner: Roquefort, pear and walnut salad. Adobo pork and wine stew with mashed potato. Kiwi and blackcurrant pavlova.

Breakfast: Toast with butter and a selection of homemade jams. Yoghurt and fruit.

Lunch: Spiced carrot and lentil soup. Spaghetti with smoked salmon, white wine and parsley sauce. Green Salad. Chocolate brownies and creme anglaise.

One of the delights was seeing how much of our own produce we could add to the meal. With our eggs we made the meringues for the pavlova, and the yolks were used in the creme anglaise. All the jams were made with our own fruit, as was the blackcurrant coulis for the pavlova. The walnuts in the salad were from our tree and we made soup with our carrots and our tomatoes went into the stew.

Kiwi Marmalade

Our friend Lucy came for a visit and brought one of her homemade jams as a present for us. When Francesca, our fantastic wwoofer tried it, she liked it so much she decided to make some of her own. We found the recipe on Lucy’s website. And thanks to Francesca we now have 10 jars of the stuff…although it tastes so good it might not last very long!

Recipe for kiwi marmalade:

2kg kiwis, peeled and chopped
4 large oranges
2 large lemons
2kg sugar

1. In a large jam pan sprinkle sugar over kiwis and the chopped zest of the oranges and lemons. (Save the juice.) Leave overnight.
2. Bring to a rapid boil and add the lemon and orange juice.
3. Boil to setting point and put in jars.



Yes Oui Can Video

Yes Oui Can came to Os Figueiros in June 2014. They brought a group of young people from all over France for an innovative week of work, classes and activities designed to encourage and support the young entrepreneurs. They just sent us the video they made of their time here and we wanted to share it with you.

Last week we had a film showing of the Serbian Film “La Parade”. All about the first Gay Pride parades in Serbia. It was both funny and sad and we enjoyed it greatly (much more than expected in fact!) and afterwards all 20 of the viewers had a delicious, 5 course, sit down meal together that lasted til the early hours.
